Much like my brother’s excellent blog over at Mississippi Valley Traveler, I plan to do a weekly photo installment here on the NU blog. Here’s today’s photo – from a visit to Bogota, Colombia in December of 2008. This visit coincided with the Sunday Ciclovia, a day when certain streets are closed to traffic and people use them as they see fit. The movement has since spread widely, and we tend to call it the Open Streets Project here in the US. It’s always great to see people reclaiming their own streets, and enjoying life in the city. We need much, much more of this in our quest for useful, lively public space.
